6 months old!!!

We're six months old today! She is growing way too fast!! We celebrated today with a little shopping, lunch with Daddy and Grandma Lassen. Then we had to take grandma to the airport. It was really sad seeing her leave. We had such a great time with her. She was more than a help when she comes for a visit.

We ended the day with a walk outside, it was 70 outside! it was so nice to get out and be in the fresh air. Hannah loves taking walks.

Did the hospital forget to give me my super powers?

Sometimes I feel like I need super powers to get everything done during the day. I don’t know how people do it. I wouldn’t say I’m OCD about keeping the house clean, but it really drives me crazy when the pillows aren’t on the couch properly, when there is stuff laying out everywhere and I absolutely can’t stand to have dishes left in the sink. I really try to keep things tidy but sometimes I really just don’t have the energy. I come home from work, and all I want to do is spend time with Hannah. I just hate that she has to be in daycare. So when I get home, I try to make up for the time that we aren’t together during the day, so of course some days nothing gets done around the house. Where’s the balance or better yet…where are my super powers?

For example, last night I came home spent time with Hannah, and then we took my wonderful mother in law out for dinner. We got home around 6:45 I got Hannah fed and ready for bed. She went down at 8:00. She’s sleeping through the nigh now!!!! YEAH!!!!! Well I thought I’d lie down and relax (with a glass of wine of course) and the next thing I knew it was 5:00am.
So this morning, it was 5:15 am and I was up washing dishes, cleaning bottles, folding clothes, washing toys and cleaning the house etc. Then it was like I had an epiphany…and I thought to myself:
WHY AM I DOING THIS….is President Obama coming over for dinner tonight? Who cares if the house isn’t immaculate?

So I put the dish towel down and went and played with Hannah (who was by now awake from all the banging and clanging I was doing in the kitchen) before work.

I had to give myself a little pep talk this morning, and tell myself I am human and I can’t do it all.

Ok… I feel better. Hope everyone is having a great care-free day!!

Lovin me some Sunday..

I love lazy Sundays. Mike is in the man cave doing whatever it is that he does in there, Hannah is asleep, MIL is asleep and I'm watching the ID channel, it just doesn't get any better than this. Mike and I were invited to Midtown Church with morning by our wonderful friends, The Coalter's. We loved it and plan on attending. There is something about starting the week off with church.

Reason number 193,293,023 why I love having my MIL here...She plays dress up with me and Hannah. We had a blast dressing her up in her Valentine's outfits (gotta send them to www.shutterfly.com in time to send out her V-Day Cards)
We had so much fun and Hannah was a hit. This was my favorite:

"Grandparents & Goodies"

January has been filled with lots of Grandparents & Goodies. Hannah's grandparents love her so much. They would travel to the end of the world to spend time with her. My mom has been to Little Rock to visit us a few times and now Mike's mom has jumped on the bandwagon. We both enjoy having our family here. They are a tremendous help. We come home everyday to a clean house, laundry done and dinner on the table. They spoil us and Hannah.

Hannah is growing like a weed. I just can't believe that she is almost 6 months. This last month has been so fun. She now reaches for you, she knows her name and she is even saying "DaDa" I don't think she really knows what she's saying, and it's more babble than anything, but let me tell you Mike is eating it up...everytime we hear a "DaDa" Mike responds with a "Yes Princess"

Of all the gadgets that are neccessary for a baby, I have to say I was more than excited to get Hannah's highchair. You would have thought it was a fine handcrafted piece of furniture. I was so excited to get it, I begged Mike to put it together. It was during some "important" football game (playoffs or something) but he did it! of course Hannah had already eaten by then but I just had to put her in it so she can bang spoons and lids together.

We've slowly been entroducing Hannah to foods. One of our first attempts was banana's. She LOVED them, she was eating them like a pro. But to our surprise she had an allergic reaction. She broke out in a red rash all over
So we put those on the back shelf and may try those at a later day.

We're sticking to applesauce and cereal.

SNOW DAY!!!!

I am no way a fan of the snow, but I will take a snow day anyday of the year!!!!

So here I am, snuggled up on the couch with Hannah. It's really a shame that Mike had to go to work this morning in all that snow...

This day reminds me of Hannah's first snow fall. It was Thanksgiving day. We were in St. Louis with Mike's family. Everyone was so excited that it was snowing and even more excited to take Hannah out in the snow. I kept hearing everyone saying "oh, we have to take Hannah out in the snow and put her feet in it...for good luck" I politley smiled and brushed it off. To my surprise they were serious...I mean they had baby in arms and was heading for the door...

After much begging and pleading, Devin convinced me to let him take Hannah out for just a minute. She was out, just long enough for me to snap a picture.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year EVERYONE!!! I've finally caved and started our blog. I don't know why it has taken me so long. I enjoy reading my friend's blogs. So I decided New Year, New Adventures...A girl must blog. I thought it would be a great way to keep everyone in St.Louis in the loop on what's going on with us.
We'll lets be honest, keep them up to date on the new and exciting things that Hannah is doing. So here I go..

Mike and I have been very busy these last 3 years: Mike got promoted, We moved to Arkansas, Got Married, Mike bought a new truck (When in roam..I guess, every man in Arkansas has to drive a truck)Had a baby and bought a house. I think we've got all the major life events covered. It has definitely been a journey.

We are now settled in our home and are making friends. I hate to say this but Arkansas is beginning to feel like home. I will never be a die hard razorback fan and I will always miss the Cardinals but I have to admit that we are in a great place in life..even if it is in Arkansas.

Everyday is an adventure in our home. My... oh... My... how having a baby changes your life. Just the simple things of noise and not making any noise when the baby is asleep. That cell phone has gotten us a couple of times. Hence the reason why we never answer our cell phones...they're always on silent ;o)

We are truly blessed to have a beautiful healthy baby. She is such a joy to our lives. She is growing so fast, I just can't be live she is now 5 months old.

Having Hannah, God has truly shown me his unconditional love and his faithfulness. I truly feel a love for Hannah that I have never felt before and to think that God has the same love for us as His children. It's just amazing. Becoming a mother I had to really trust and put my faith in the Lord. I mean come on, I was not a kid lover, kids made me nervous and quite frankly made too much noise. I'd be lying if I didn't say my family was a little worried when we shared that Mike and I were expecting.
needless to say, when I found out I was expecting, I hit the books. It was like college all over again. I read book after book, googled a million baby topics, and prayed. It's a big deal to be 100% responsible for a baby 24 hours a day ( Kudos's to the single moms and the cast of 16 and pregnant, I just don't know how they do it)
Then one day it just hit me, God is in control, He won't give me more than I can handle and He is Hannah's protector.

So needless to say we are making it, we're not the Brady Bunch but I think Mike and I are doing a wonderful job.
