Weekly Goals

Monday:

We had a great weekend in Dallas. It was nice to get away with M. I learned a lot this weekend about myself. I share that later in a different post. This week I’m hitting life hard and making some changes. My sailor mouth, eating and fitness have gotten a little off track. I don’t know about you but starting Monday with a list always gets me off to a good start.

Nutritional Goals for the week –

1. Log my meals. Somehow I’m thinking this will keep me accountable.
2. Stick with the no carbs and no sugar. Eat as “Clean” as possible. (Help me)
3. No booze during the week. Ok ok… let’s not get crazy. Limit the booze during the week.

Fitness Goals for the week -

Stick to the St. Jude’s marathon training this week.
Monday- 4 miles
Tuesday- CT or 3 miles
Wednesday- 4 miles
Thursday- CT or Rest
Friday- 4-6 miles
Saturday – Rest
Sunday 14-16 miles
This will be the first time I’ve ran anything over 13.1 I’m thinking if I keep things slow and steady I should be fine. Let’s be honest. I’m not looking to PR or anything; I’m just looking for completion.

Kindness Goals for the week-
I really want to focus on Luke 6:31
“Do to others as you would have them do to you”
This verse can be so hard to do sometimes. I can be a little hard headed sometimes. I know shocking. When I get a bur in my saddle I get mad and then I stay mad. Not a good quality I know. It’s something I am working on. I need to be nice to others, turn the cheek when I’ve been done wrong. Treat others like I want to be treated. So with this, I am doing one act of kindness a day.

I know these goals don’t seem huge but they are huge to me. Here’s to a successful week.

What are your goals for the week?

Monday...

Well Monday, here we are again? What happened to the weekend?

Gesh, why does the weekend seem to fly by?

We didn't do much this past weekend. The weather called for rain, I'd be lying if I wasn't overly excited for a pajama day.

Friday, we watched the cardinals BEAT the cubs. I just love when that happens. I also took it upon myself to rearrange the living room and H’s room. I was FULL of energy. That will teach me to drink spark so late at night.

I got up bright and early and meet up with my running group. I hadn’t been in 2 weeks. When my feet hit the pavement I entered my happy place. It was dark, the moon was still out, and there was that morning crisp breeze. I was in my happy place. Ten miles in the books.

I was a little concerned about Saturday. September 28. Linda’s birthday. You can read all about her HERE. I just didn’t know how M would be. Would he cry? Would he want to talk about her? Do I buy a cake? Hell I don’t know, I’m not good with these things. I just took his lead. I did however make him his favorite oatmeal cookies, using Linda’s recipe. He loved him. I have re named them “Am I out of the dog house/I’m sorry cookies”

It was a nice relaxing day. H even fell asleep super early. M and I enjoy a little quiet time and then BOOM. H woke up. Saying she had a cough in her throat. “As in her dinner was about to make an appearance in liquid form. Sorry TMI”

Nasty city

We spend the night changing sheets, taking baths, and me dry heaving in the corner. I am so not good with that stuff.

So now we are all sick. All I want to do is crawl into bed with my remote and my fat girl pants. (and maybe a hot tottie…hold the tea)

Cheers to Tylenol PM

Memphis Zoo

Memorial day weekend, we'd thought we'd take full advantage of the extra day off. We loaded the honkey tonk truck and set out for the Memphis Zoo.

Has anyone ever been?

It was our first time going. We were pretty excited about the day trip. Plus we went to the Little Rock Zoo previously and let me just tell you to save your money. It's was piss poor. like bad. Like the poor giraffe was chained up to a pool on the black top. I mean really? It was sad. I give it a two and that's only because the parking was super close.

I digress.

The Memphis Zoo got a solid 5. (what can I say, the St. Louis Zoo is the BEST) It was a lot bigger than the LR ZOO. It didn't cost us an arm and a leg to get in. The animals seemed pretty happy...we'll except for this guy

I'm pretty sure he's talking himself off the ledge...poor little fella...he just wants to run wild and free. Instead he gets to hear bratty kids hit the glass all day.

The sting rays were pretty cool. Of course H and I were too scared to touch them. Shoot...we heard about Crocodile Hunter...mamma didn't raise no fool.

Seriously, This picture makes me so sad. H looks so grown up.

This little fella..was a huge hit. We recently found a turtle in our back yard. H fell in love with it. She loved seeing this turtle walking around the zoo. She of course wanted to take it home.

We had a great time in Memphis, we'll defiantly go back.

After the zoo we ventured to Tunica. M gambled and H and I hit up the outlet mall. We enjoyed our weekend away. Hope everyone had a safe Memorial Day.

That Silly Leprechaun

Happy St. Patrick's Day.
I hope everyone enjoyed their green beer!

The Lassen's went without Green Beer this year...womp womp.

We did enjoy all the treats that the Leprechaun left us Hannah.

I found these cute guys on Pinterest. I can't take full credit for the idea but I did change it up a bit. I wanted to get the full effect of the rainbow BUT I didn't want to send H in a sugar shock.

These were super easy to make:
  • One bag of skittles. Which did you know they got ride of that nasty lime skittle? It's now Green Apple. YUMMY!
  • One bag or Rollo's
  • Twine
  • I found the "buckets" from Michaels and the tubes from Hobby Lobby
  • Print outs were found  HERE

Of course I had to die EVEYTHING green.

M and I hid buckets of Gold aka ROLO's around the house. H's face was so funny when she saw that the "Silly Leprechaun" left her buckets of gold.

Of course I had to make St. Patrick's day shirt (please excuse the wrinkles. Who has time to iron?). I'm trying to show M that I can be frugal.
Shirt: Hobby Lobby $2.99
Iron on $1.99
I printed a shamrock from Google. Traced in on the iron-on, cut it out and iron it on the shirt. The iron process was a little annoying.  I guess I was a little impatient. There was a thin line between enough heat and burning the T-Shirt.  Needless to say, my fingertips were numb. I should have just bought the dang St. Patrick's day shirt from Old Navy.

Dallas Wedding Weekend

Thursday night Mike and I headed to Dallas after work for the VU & Boyer Wedding. I worked all day Thursday and was in no mood to leave Hannah. It was really sad leaving her. I knew she was in good hands..but there was something that just ripped my heart out when she yelled "mommy mommy"...when I left. I cried all the way to Malvern. My sweet sensitive husband told me to get a grip and shoved a taco down my throat. It took a minute but I got a grip and enjoy the time with Mike.

We made to to Dallas around 11:00pm. I was exhausted and it showed. We stayed at the Marriott City Center it was super nice. I jumped in the shower then Mike and I headed to the Lobby bar. It's amazing what a glass of Reisling can do for the soul.

I was so proud of Mike and I. We ran both days.

I can't get this dang picture to turn right side up....

Friday, we were invited the the Koren wedding at Lisa's parent's house. I loved the experience of the different culture's and the food was amazeballs. Isn't she pretty..

We had the rehearsal dinner at Dakota's . It was the best steak I have ever had. It was so nice to sit and meet with Lisa and her friends and family.

here we go again with the jacked up picture...WTH?

The wedding was absolutely beautiful. I know it wasn't really about Mike but he looked so handsome. He was a little paranoid about the rings but he did great.

I for some reason don't have any pictures from the wedding and I'm so mad that I don't. Lisa and Adrian both looked amazing.
The reception was at The Dallas Petroleum Club. Great time. Mike did great on his best man speech.

It didn't take him long to loosen up and get moving on the dance floor.

Yep..He's mine...Be jealous...

 Aren't we cute?

New Orleans

Last weekend Mike and I flew to New Orleans for a fun filled weekend with our awesome friends Tara and Tommy Forrest. We had never been to NOLA and we were pretty pumped for a adult weekend.
We arrived Saturday night, just in time for the Mardi Gras Kick off parade. It was a sight for sure. We found a great location called Pat O'Brien's to watch the parade.

That is were we were introduced to these:
BEST HURRICANE EVER! I'm pretty sure we had one everyday.
Sunday morning we headed to Stanley's to soak up all the residue from the Hurricane's.

Mike and I went straight for the "Hungover Food" and let me tell you, it was by far the BEST burger.
I really don't remember 100% of everyday. It's pretty blurry. I blame it on the hurricanes and the "Hand Granades"
Mike and I fell in love with NOLA. If you can get passed the horrible smell in the morning, it really is a romantic place. The old buildings are just beautiful.
We were the early risers out of the group. Most mornings Mike and I would walk around, grab a drink and somehow we would always end up with a drink in our hand and at the casino. I was ok, becuase Mike always seems to win in the casino. I however hate it, but I can pretty much do anything with a drink in my hand.
The food in NOLA is out of this world. I can't explain it. We'd eat, drink and shop...then repeat.
The Gumpo Pot had by far the best red beans and rice. YUM
Louisana Pizza Kitchen was a cute little restuarant by the French Market. Great pizza and Beer. (and after googling the name...aparently there is some serious history going on in their cooler)
Lafittes it the coolest bar. They have "no electricity" in the place. Just candles. I use the word NO lightly...I did see a credit card machine and a T.V.
Tommy purposed to Tara here previously, so we had to visit this romantic place.

So I totally forgot my camera and had to go off of memory for this trip. Mike and I both said that we have to return to NOLA. It was just too much fun and I qoute from Mike "this is the best trip ever babe"
